I am a photographer, short-form video creator and writer.

I’m Ula, a photographer and writer based on Vancouver Island. My work is shaped by movement—walking through forests, along shorelines, or through cities—always looking, always noticing. I’m drawn to texture, impermanence, and scale—the way mist erases a ridgeline, how a person becomes small against an endless landscape, or how the tide reshapes the shoreline in hours.

With a background in design, I bring a deliberate and thoughtful approach to my photography and writing. My creative process is about more than just capturing what’s in front of me—it’s about reflecting on how we experience the world and finding beauty in overlooked moments.

Some images come quickly, but most take time—standing still in the rain, waiting for the right light, or walking the same trail again and again. My work isn’t about capturing a single subject but about the act of seeing—what’s temporary, what lingers, and what disappears.

I share my writing on Substack, where I write about what it really takes to build a creative life. I also take on select photography, video, and writing projects—you can find more about that here.

Let’s work together.
